Malignancy: work up protocol

1. Radiographic investigations e.g. CT, CXR

2. FBC, U&E, LFT, X-match 6u blood for neck dissection cases

3. Urinalysis, ECG

4. Book an intensive care bed at least the day before the operation

5. Liaise closely with the anaesthetic staff regarding post-operative care and monitoring

6. Book frozen sections with histopathology

7. Radial flap—Allen’s test and write in notes

8. Post-operation—once or twice a daily ward round with consultant

9. Inform MacMillan Nurse

10. Organise dietician to see

11. Daily post operation blood investigation and free flap checks.
