Cardiac Arrest

In cardiac arrest there is no effective cardiac output. The patient is unconscious, apnoeic with absent arterial pulses (best felt in the carotid artery in the neck) Irreversible brain damage occurs heart within 3 minutes if an adequate circulation is not established.
