Protection and Defence Organisations

All dentists should join one of the defence organisations upon qualifying. The Health Authorities took over the liability for the acts and omissions of doctors and dentists working in the hospital and Community Services and this liability has passed over to those hospitals which are Trusts. Dentists in the Hospital and Community Services are advised to maintain some personal cover as Crown Indemnity does not cover ‘good Samaritan’ deeds, representation at Coroner’s inquests, Fatal Accident Inquires, and private practice.
